Fateless Podcast Recap: TAKE MY MONEY!
This week’s Fateless Podcast features Brad, Sham and Simon joined by Vex, a content creator, esports coach, and all-around gaming enthusiast. Vex joins to talk about his journey from competitive FPS coaching to deep dives into the world of gacha games and game merchandise.
Podcast Summary
Vex’s background is a mix of teaching, esports leadership, D&D worldbuilding, and content creation. Coaching high school students in games like Valorant and Counter-Strike, he focuses on strategy, communication, and teamwork—especially with ESL students. “I’m not the best player,” Vex admits, “but I see the macro game better than most.”
His love for gaming spills into convention culture. Formerly a vendor at major Magic: The Gathering events, Vex has deep insight into merch trends. He says fandoms love the unique and personal—keychains, stickers, acrylic stands—not just generic t-shirts. When it comes to Godforge, Vex is all-in. A longtime gacha fan (with Raid: Shadow Legends on auto-farm during the podcast), he’s especially excited about physical collectibles tied to in-game purchases. A 3D-printed hero figure bundled with shards? “Take my money,” he says.
One of his biggest hopes? A roguelike mode with draft mechanics. “It gives me a reason to keep playing even after I’ve used my energy,” Vex explains. He also praises games that balance voice acting, progression, and smart content pacing.
