Fateless Podcast Recap: WHAT DO WE NEED TO DO TO MAKE THE ULTIMATE GAME?

In this episode of the Fateless Podcast, Dirk, Dane and Brad sit down and chat about the development of Godforge from the art and design perspectives. What have they been up to recently and what are some of the biggest challenges they’ve faced so far? Let’s dive in..!

Podcast Summary

During this chat, it is pointed out that creating tutorials can prove to be challenging—they need to educate without overwhelming. The team is iterating on a system that evolves with the player, allowing them to learn naturally through gameplay, not walls of text. The first time user experience is an important one, after all! The art department is thriving with fresh character designs, including the goddess Hel, whose development demanded a unique visual impact. The art pipeline, however, isn’t without hurdles. Syncing visuals with narrative and keeping on schedule are constant balancing acts. The ultimate goal? A fun, responsive experience where experimentation is rewarded. New systems allow players to test builds and champions, embracing flexibility in playstyle. This includes systems that encourage creative combos, not rigid meta-chasing.

On the lighter side, Dane, Dirk, and Brad shared the games they’re currently into, from strategy titles to cozy indie favorites. It’s clear their love of games fuels their passion for Godforge. As development continues, the team is calling on the community for feedback and ideas. Whether you’re into art, balance, or lore, Godforge is being built with players in mind. Follow along, join the Discord, and help shape a game made by gamers, for gamers.
