Fateless Video Recap: Godforge Gameplay – Changing the Ultimate System for BETA!

Each week, we share a direct update from the team behind Godforge, so you can see what we’re building, what’s changing, and why we’re making the calls we are. This week, we’re looking at two key areas: how close we are to beta, and a major update to how Initiative, Faith, and Divinity now work in combat.

We’re in a strong position heading into Beta. A lot of core systems are now in and functioning as intended. Early progression flows are live, guiding players through story, missions, and core gameplay loops. Systems like the Gold Bazaar, mission tracking, star rewards, and Nexus screens are all working together to create a more complete early experience. On top of that, the move to Metaplay is now fully in place, and the QA team is pushing hard with testing and bug fixing to make sure everything holds up under pressure.

On the gameplay side, we’ve made a significant change to the ultimate system. Initiative has now been reworked into Faith, and this directly impacts how Divinity is generated. Instead of multiple overlapping systems, Faith now clearly defines how much Divinity a hero gains every time any unit takes a turn. That means ultimates are easier to predict, easier to understand, and more consistent in how they build over time.

The goal here is to create a real stat choice. We don’t want Speed to be the only answer. Faith should now compete with Speed depending on the role of the hero. Some builds will focus on acting faster, while others will focus on generating ultimates more frequently. That opens up more team variety and more meaningful decisions when building out your roster.

Beyond systems, we’re continuing to push visual polish. Hero portraits are being refined, expressions are being added, and small details like eye movement and VFX upgrades are improving the overall feel of the game. Not everything will make it into beta, but the direction is clear.

We’re close, and beta will be the moment where we validate all of this with real player feedback.
