Fateless Video Recap: The Smartest Way to Start Godforge Beta
Each week, we share a direct update from the team behind Godforge, so you can see what we’re building, what’s changing, and why we’re making the calls we are. This week, Brad is joined by Mirandus, Scott (UnboundSage), and Chris for a broader conversation about beta preparation, new player experience, starter heroes, team building, and how much depth players can expect when they first jump into the game.
This episode starts from the perspective of someone newer to the Godforge community. Mirandus talks about coming into the game from other mobile and hero collector titles, and how the size of the beta can feel both exciting and intimidating. With over 200 heroes, different kits, weapons, imprints, archetypes, and team-building options, there is a lot for new players to take in.
That became one of the main themes of the discussion. We want Godforge to have depth, but we also want players to feel supported as they learn. The community, content creators, and Discord all play a role here, especially as players start asking questions, comparing teams, and figuring out how to solve different encounters.
The group also talks about starter heroes and how beta is different from alpha. The alpha had a very specific race-style structure, while beta is built around a more complete progression curve. That means the “best” starter choice may depend more on what kind of account you want to build, what rewards you are chasing, and how you approach early campaign progression.
There’s also a lot of focus on practical team building. Rarity matters, but it is not the only thing that matters. A common or rare hero that solves the problem in front of you can be more useful than a higher-rarity hero that does not fit the team. That includes thinking about defenders, support, crowd control, damage, and how to use imprints or duplicates when you hit a wall.
Beta is going to give players a lot to explore, and that is the point. We want players testing, theorycrafting, asking questions, and finding the edges of the systems so we can keep improving Godforge together.
