Fateless Video Recap: Road To Beta 2: Everything You Asked Us To Fix

Each week, we share a direct update from the team behind Godforge, so you can see what we’re building, what’s changing, and why we’re making the calls we are. This week, Simon gives a broad in-game update on the improvements currently being made across beta feedback areas, including UI and UX flow, performance, hero roster updates, game speed, early tutorial work, Pantheons, Arena, and visual polish.

A major focus of the update is showing progress inside the current build. Simon walks through several areas that were called out after beta, including too many clicks, slower battle pacing, phone performance, roster friction, and general game feel. Some areas are still in prototype, while others are already working in-game and being tested by the team.

The Sanctum prototype shown last week has also moved forward. The team is now testing how the camera feels, how the rooms connect, how zoomed in or out the hub should be, and whether the layout still works once UI buttons and event elements are added on top. The goal is to make sure the Sanctum feels good to navigate before the team commits fully to the direction.

Performance is another major priority. Simon shows optimization testing on mobile devices, especially around phone temperature, FPS, memory, download size, update size, and getting players into the game faster. The goal for the next beta is to support more devices and improve the overall feel of playing on phones.

A lot of the update also focuses on hero roster quality-of-life improvements. Mass promotion, quick unbinding, clearer hero leveling, ascension info, resource exchange prompts, gear comparison, quick rank-up, mass sell, filtering, and awakening flow are all being improved to reduce friction and help players understand systems without needing to leave the game.

Simon also confirms that Arena and Pantheons are already in and being tested internally. Pantheon creation, joining, daily Pantheon boss fights, rewards, and Chronos testing are all in progress, with more details on Beta 2 expected once timing is locked down.

The update closes with art, camera, and battle speed improvements. Heroes now start closer in the roster, can be zoomed in and out more freely, and stand out better from blurred backgrounds. Battles are also being tightened by reducing camera pans, reviewing animation lengths, and improving speed so fights feel faster without removing the cinematic feel.
