Fateless YouTube Video Recap: Godforge Beta Hero Balance — What Needs Adjusting?
Each week, we share a direct update from the team behind Godforge, so you can see what we’re building, what’s changing, and why we’re making the calls we are. This week, Brad is joined by Matt from Fateless, DLDSgaming, and realbubbaHoTep for a beta-focused discussion about hero balance, campaign difficulty, dungeons, weapons, imprints, and what players experienced during the first beta.
The episode starts with the creators sharing their backgrounds and how they came into Godforge. Matt also introduces his role on the Fateless QA team, where he helps find bugs, test the game, and support a better player experience going into future beta phases and early access.
A major topic this week is hero balance. The group talks about how rares, epics, and legendaries felt during beta, with several players pointing out that rares stayed useful much longer than expected. That is an important part of the design goal: high-rarity heroes should feel exciting, but lower-rarity heroes should still have real value when built well.
There is also a deeper discussion around support heroes, especially Isolde. Matt points out that she felt like the clear default healer for many teams, while other healers may need more love so players have more options. Rather than only pulling power down, the team talks about using beta data to raise weaker heroes and create more meaningful choices.
Campaign and dungeon difficulty also come up throughout the episode. Story mode felt solid overall, but the jump into Adventure mode and some dungeon stages could feel sharp. That challenge pushed players to think more carefully about team building, gear, imprints, weapons, manual play, and boss mechanics.
The weapon and imprint systems remain one of the most interesting parts of Godforge. Players liked how much flexibility they added, but there is still room to improve how safe and easy it feels to experiment. Ideas like moving imprints at a cost, testing more combinations, or giving players more room to customize before locking choices in are all part of the kind of feedback beta is meant to surface.
This episode is a strong look at balance from both sides: what already feels promising, and what still needs tuning before the next version of Godforge.
