Fateless Video Recap: Godforge Beta 2 Could Feel VERY Different
Each week, we share a direct update from the team behind Godforge, so you can see what we’re building, what’s changing, and why we’re making the calls we are. This week, Brad is joined by Juho and Ricky from Fateless, along with content creator and Discord moderator Sop4lin, to talk about Beta 1 bugs, first-time player experience, performance, pacing, and what needs to be cleaned up before Beta 2.
The episode starts with Sop4lin sharing how he found Godforge, joined the community, became a moderator, and helped create the unofficial French Discord. Ricky also introduces himself as a newer member of the Fateless team, explaining how joining the development side has given him a much deeper appreciation for how complicated bug fixing can be.
A major focus of the discussion is the first-time user experience. The team talks about how new players learn systems like attunement, rifts, imprints, missions, and progression. Instead of forcing players through too many rigid tutorial clicks, the goal is to make learning feel more natural and tied into the campaign experience.
Game pacing is another key topic. Beta 1 showed that some difficulty spikes were too sharp, especially when players moved into harder campaign areas or dungeon stages. The team discusses how roadblocks can be useful, but they need to guide players toward the right next step instead of making them feel stuck or confused.
The episode also covers performance, especially on mobile. Juho explains that battery life, heating, CPU load, logging, and optimization are all being actively worked on. Ricky also notes that reducing screen brightness made a big difference on his phone, while the team continues improving performance across more devices.
Battle speed and multi-battle pacing are also being reviewed. The team is already experimenting with reducing repeated victory scenes, intro cameras, and other dead time, especially during multi-battles where players are farming the same stage repeatedly.
This beta gave Fateless a lot of real data, bug reports, and feedback. The goal now is to use that information to make Beta 2 smoother, clearer, faster, and more stable.
