Fateless Podcast Recap: Did We Reveal TOO MUCH?!
In this week’s Fateless Podcast, Brad, Simon & Paul sat down with community member and content creator Ragewood Gaming to explore how other games influence the design of Godforge. As someone who’s not only played but dissected games like Raid: Shadow Legends, Dragonheir: Silent Gods, and Watcher of Realms, Ragewood brought deep insight into what works—and what doesn’t—when it comes to player progression, systems, and gameplay experience.
Podcast Summary
A key topic was energy systems. In some games, energy caps stifle progression, while others offer flexible banking systems that reward consistent or even intermittent play. The Godforge team confirmed they’re designing around that pain point with a system that supports long-term engagement without punishing time-constrained players.
Another highlight was gear and build flexibility. The team touched on the tension between free gear swapping and punishing gold sinks. The answer? An upcoming system called Attunement, designed to allow meaningful build commitment without harsh penalties—especially early in a player’s journey. Also teased were unique weapon slots, imprint systems for duplicate heroes, and the importance of honoring cultural representation in mythology-based design. The developers are ensuring powerful characters like Zeus or Heimdall are treated with narrative and gameplay respect.
With about 100 heroes planned for the Godforge beta, the discussion also revealed the balancing act of introducing visually and mechanically diverse champions while making sure gameplay remains fun and accessible. Bottom line? Godforge is pulling from the best (and avoiding the worst) of genre predecessors—promising a smart, respectful, and community-driven approach to mythic gaming while also bringing completely new mechanics that we hope shake up the genre!
