Fateless Podcast Recap: DEEP DIVING THE GAME MECHANICS!

As we are halfway through Wave 2 and players are diving deeper and deeper into understanding the mechanics of Godforge. In this past Fateless podcast, recorded before Wave 2 began, Brad, Simon & Dirk welcomed back Adam from The Adventures of Adam, for a lively discussion about Godforge and the mechanics of status effects.

Podcast Summary

Adam, known in the community for spotting hidden details and leaks, shared his excitement for the project. Having come from Raid: Shadow Legends, he hopes Fateless avoids the pitfalls of overcomplication and wasted potential:

“With Godforge, the more I learn, the more excited I get. Every update makes it look better.”

The conversation focused on accuracy, resistance, and status effects—core mechanics shaping Godforge’s gameplay. Unlike some RPGs, there’s no “3% chance to fail” rule; 100% accuracy means your debuff lands, while high resistance guarantees protection. To avoid making stats feel useless, resistance also reduces critical damage taken, while accuracy boosts chances for strong hits—adding layers of strategy.

The team also revealed unique takes on debuffs. For example, Bleed stacks vertically, growing stronger without cluttering the UI, while Mend counters it. Acid not only deals damage but also melts armor and weakens shields, staying true to RPG roots. Crowd-control effects like Freeze and Sleep have flavorful twists: Freeze slows turn meter fill, while Sleep increases incoming damage, rewarding creative team-building.

Looking ahead, the developers teased Morph, a transformation, polymorph-style disable that changes enemies into random critters with altered move sets—sometimes even offering unexpected utility.

With alpha testing underway, the Fateless team emphasized their goal: depth and variety without cookie-cutter builds. As Adam put it, “Even the small details make me want to play more.”
