Fateless Video Reacap: COMBAT IN GODFORGE
In the latest YouTube video, The Fateless team dives into something a lot of you have been asking about: combat. We’re excited to share another look behind the scenes and with Beta launching soon, things are getting exciting fast.
Development is currently in the implementation phase, and several heroes are already live in the engine. Visuals, lighting, and effects are being refined, and early gameplay footage shows off impressive animations, dramatic camera work, and smooth combat transitions. The results are already turning heads, thanks in large part to the technical direction of John Styes, the game’s CTO.
One of the biggest highlights is the introduction of the Timeline Tool, a custom-built system used by the team to craft and fine-tune hero abilities and cinematic intros. With this tool, designers can manipulate everything from animation timing and VFX to camera movement and post-processing effects, ensuring that each ability not only functions well but feels epic.
A featured example includes Ra’s skyfall intro — complete with glowing effects, slow-motion landings, and synced camera angles — showcasing just how cinematic gameplay can become. Heroes like King Tut and Guan Yu are also being brought to life with unique combat styles, flashy ultimates, and dynamic camera work.
Fans can sign up now for the beta (via this website) and get a firsthand look at what’s shaping up to be a visually stunning and mechanically rich combat experience. The Fateless team is also inviting you to join the Discord, support the project on Patreon, and follow along as more updates roll out in the weeks ahead.
