Fateless Podcast Recap: ALL YOU NEED TO KNOW ABOUT BETA! [and our PREVIOUS plans]

In this past Fateless podcast, Brad, Simon and Dirk— joined by mobile gaming creator MrSneakyy Gaming— reflected on how beta testing expectations have changed dramatically over time. Originally, the conversation centered around the upcoming Godforge Access, but as discussions unfolded, it became clear that the approach had evolved far beyond traditional ideas.

NOTE: Since this podcast, a lot has changed regarding our plans for “Beta”. We’ll first start with an Alpha challenge phase. Check out this last article for more details.

Podcast Summary

MrSneakyy shared his past experiences with true beta tests, where players actively broke games to help developers fix critical issues. This contrasts heavily with today’s trend of betas acting as glorified soft launches. Dirk and Simon emphasized that their upcoming Godforge beta will focus purely on gathering feedback to improve core gameplay systems — not early monetization or stress testing. Simon explained the team’s deliberate shift: they’re aiming for a genuine testing experience, not just an early release disguised as a beta. The first limited wave of players will help fine-tune hero progression and overall game feel. The goal is clear: players won’t be keeping progress — they’ll be helping shape the final product.

The conversation also touched on community dynamics, live PvP hopes, and the importance of making a game feel “alive” at launch. Sneaky highlighted the value of face-to-face testing events to organically build hype and collaboration, a direction the Fateless team is actively exploring. In short, while early discussions painted a standard beta rollout, the reality now is more ambitious: Godforge isn’t just preparing for a test — it’s preparing for lasting success.
